Meet the Owner
Kevin John McKeown is a native to Cheticamp with Acadian, Micmac, Irish and Scottish bloodlines, born and bred in my great grandpa business, Laurie’s Cabins Business school with fifteen years experience in oil, gas, mining exploration. Accolades Hostel Retreat & Campground has brought me back to my roots, enabling me appreciate the little things that mean so much more; to be happy, to be genuine, to keep it simple, to not stress, to be family oriented, networking and lastly to enjoy life one day at a time. Little rough on the edges but a very warm and loving gentleman with a passion to succeed and make a difference.
Kevin McKeown’s Cheticamp, Nova Scotia
Kevin Mc Keown’s Cheticamp is nestled on the famous Cabot Trail known for having the highest winds in the province of Nova Scotia and the safest place to be during these storms. My neighbors and town people are mostly bilingual and very happy to help travellers get the best of what this historic fishing town has to offer. Our town thrives on tourism, lobster and crab fishing industry. Ocean vitas wrapped with warmest beaches North of the Carolinas, mid 70’s temperature Gulf of St Lawrence. There are also five beaches within 5 kms of Rivers, streams, swim holes and fish holes almost everywhere. My French Acadian ancestry farmed, fished and lived in the area before they were expropriated to build the Cape Breton Highland’s National Park, Cabot Trail and down town waterfront “La Digue” where the old fish shacks and docks once thrived and boomed during the famous Northern Cod Fishing Era.
My Message to our beloved Tourists
